Never a dull note

The chorus has been working hard at memorizing the score for Lucia di Lammermoor. The men are especially important in this production as Donizetti as usual, gives them more to do. All chorus members are doing a fantastic job and they are actually finding this work to be most enjoyable and somewhat easier to memorize than our previous production of Turandot.

An added pressure for me as chorus master is to have the best vocal production possible due to the added pressure and honor of having a CBC broadcast.  Often this aspect of the process becomes less important during the staging, as chorus members are working on movement and dramatic intent, forgetting the finer musical nuances worked in the preceding months. My job is to remind and refocus the chorus to rich full bodied sound  after all of the staging is in place. I am so looking forward to having Henry and Ty’s input in this exciting production of this masterpiece.
