May 6th, the members of the OLO Opera Studio Program presented a wonderful concert for the enjoyment of the company’s supporters and donors. The concert was hugely successful and the singers really did a fabulous job. The quality of our Studio participants has steadily increased over the years and our current group has been the strongest yet.
Several of our graduates have moved on to great opportunities with companies such as the MET, Paris Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Montreal Opera, as well as companies like Virginia Opera. Our upcoming production of La Boheme will feature a past graduate of our training program, Joyce El-Khoury. She will be singing the leading role of Mimi. She is fast shooting to stardom and is, I believe, a shining example of how OLO encourages Canadian and local talent, helping springboard them to the next level. One of the most important functions of our artistic vision is to create opportunities for Canadian talent and in particular rising talent.
This is a great article from the Ottawa Citizen about Joyce.
The following websites will give you more information on two of our current Studio participants.
Please take time to follow these wonderful artists.
